  • A spare or fully charged DualSense

Long launch-night sessions drain a controller fast. Grab a backup or keep it plugged in.

Why this matters

GTA 6 is the biggest gaming launch in years. Nothing is worse than sitting down at midnight and realising your PS5 does not have enough storage, your controller is dead, or your display is stuck at 60 Hz if GTA 6 ships with a higher frame-rate mode. This checklist covers every category - storage, hardware, display, audio, streaming, and game-day steps - so you are not scrambling on the night.

The storage figure (~210 GB) is the PS5 size reported on 27 October 2026 from PlayStation Store data. Rockstar has not published an official install size yet. Check the storage planner for the latest figures and SSD recommendations.
