LAUNCH DAY GEAR

About

Launch Day Gear is an independent gaming-hardware site focused on the PlayStation 5 and the big launches that send people shopping, the biggest of which right now is Grand Theft Auto VI. We cover storage, displays, capture cards, headsets and controllers, and we publish buying guides and launch coverage built around one hard rule: a spec is checked before it is quoted, and a number is never dressed up as a measurement it is not.

Why this site exists

Most buying guides are rewritten spec sheets with an affiliate link bolted on. Launch Day Gear exists to give day-one players clear, honest guidance on the gear that actually changes a session: storage, displays, controllers and capture. When a launch as big as GTA 6 arrives, a bad storage or display decision costs the most, so that is where we focus first.

How we research

Our guides are built on manufacturer specifications, official documentation and independent reporting, and we tell you which is which. We do not currently run our own hardware benchmarks, so we never present a number as something we measured. Where a figure is a manufacturer rating or an estimate, we label it that way in the text. When official information does not exist yet, for example unconfirmed GTA 6 specifications, we say so plainly and separate what is confirmed from what we expect. The full process is on our methodology page.

How we stay independent

Launch Day Gear is reader-supported. Some links to retailers are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. That revenue funds the gear and the testing. It never decides a verdict or a ranking: we recommend the product that wins on our data, not the one with the best payout. The full policy is on our affiliate disclosure page.

Who publishes this site

Launch Day Gear is published by Kavyn Ventures, an independent business based in Sydney, Australia. We are not owned by a hardware manufacturer, a retailer, or a larger media group, and no brand has any say over what we publish. Everything on this site is written and maintained in-house.

Editorial responsibility for every guide sits with Kavyn Ventures. If we get something wrong, we want to know: email us and we will correct the page and note the change on it.
