GTA 6 claim tracker
There is more written about GTA 6 than about any other unreleased game, and most of it does not say where it came from. This page is our attempt to fix that. Every claim below is recorded with the primary source we checked it against, a short quote from that source, and an honest status. If a claim is not official, we say so.
We compiled and classified this ourselves rather than repeating what other sites assert. Follow any source link and check our work.

Release and timing
- ConfirmedSource dated 6 November 2025
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to release on Thursday, November 19, 2026.
“Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026.”
Source: Rockstar Games (Newswire)
What it means // This is the primary source, and every date quoted elsewhere online traces back to it. Note the day of the week: a Thursday launch, not Rockstar's more usual Tuesday, so book time off accordingly.
- ConfirmedSource dated 7 August 2026
As of Take-Two's August 7, 2026 quarterly earnings release, the November 19, 2026 launch date remained unchanged.
“excitement around the November 19th launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, we are reiterating our Fiscal 2027 Net Bookings outlook”
Source: Take-Two Interactive (SEC Form 8-K, Exhibit 99.1)
What it means // The strongest available signal against a third delay: this is a legally filed document, not marketing, and Take-Two has staked an 8.0bn to 8.2bn dollar full year bookings forecast on the date holding.
- ConfirmedSource dated 6 November 2025
Rockstar attributed the delay from May 2026 to November 2026 to needing additional development time for polish.
“these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve”
Source: Rockstar Games (Newswire)
What it means // Rockstar gave a reason rather than a bare date change. Worth holding against the many third party explanations citing internal turmoil or labour disputes: none of that appears in the official statement.
- ConfirmedSource dated 2 May 2025
Before the November 2026 date, Grand Theft Auto VI was scheduled for May 26, 2026.
“Grand Theft Auto VI is now set to release on May 26, 2026.”
Source: Rockstar Games (Newswire)
What it means // The first of two formal delays, both announced the same way: a short signed Newswire letter. Together they account for roughly eighteen months of slippage from the original window.
- ConfirmedSource dated 4 December 2023
Grand Theft Auto VI was originally announced in December 2023 for a 2025 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
“Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to PlayStation 5 computer entertainment systems and Xbox Series X|S games and entertainment systems in 2025.”
Source: Take-Two Interactive (Investor Relations)
What it means // The announcement that started the clock, issued alongside Trailer 1. Two things stand out: the original target was 2025, and the platform list has never changed since. PC was absent from day one.
- ConfirmedSource dated 24 June 2026
Players who pre-order digital versions of Grand Theft Auto VI can begin pre-loading on November 12, 2026.
“Players who pre-order digital versions of Grand Theft Auto VI will be able to begin pre-loading on November 12”
Source: Rockstar Games (Newswire)
What it means // A full week of pre-load headroom, which is generous and implies a very large install. Several sites currently state the pre-load date as November 19, which is wrong: it is November 12, seven days before you can play.
Platforms
- ConfirmedSource dated 13 August 2026
At launch Grand Theft Auto VI will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only.
“COMING NOVEMBER 19, 2026 PlayStation 5 Xbox Series X|S”
Source: Rockstar Games (official game page)
What it means // Checked on Rockstar's own product page on the date of this entry: two platforms, listed plainly. Any storefront advertising a launch day version on a third platform is not selling what Rockstar is shipping.
- ConfirmedSource dated 13 August 2026
Grand Theft Auto VI will not be playable on PlayStation 4.
“Grand Theft Auto VI will only be playable on PlayStation 5 consoles. It will not be available for PlayStation 4 consoles.”
Source: PlayStation (Sony Interactive Entertainment)
What it means // Sony states this unusually bluntly on its own product page, which suggests it was fielding the question constantly. Unlike GTA 5, which shipped on PS3 and was ported forward twice, GTA 6 is current generation only.
- ConfirmedSource dated 7 August 2026
No PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI appears in Take-Two's officially announced release lineup.
“Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto VI PS5, Xbox Series X|S November 19, 2026”
Source: Take-Two Interactive (SEC Form 8-K, Exhibit 99.1)
What it means // The cleanest evidence that PC is genuinely unannounced rather than merely unmentioned: in the same filing table, NBA 2K27 and Judas both list PC explicitly. Take-Two knows how to write PC in that column and chose not to here.
- ConfirmedSource dated 5 May 2026
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said Rockstar releases on console first because console players are the core audience.
“Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you're judged by serving the core.”
Source: Video Games Chronicle
What it means // Read carefully, this explains the strategy without promising a PC port or a date. Rockstar's own history is the better planning guide: GTA 5 took roughly 19 months to reach PC, Red Dead Redemption 2 about 13.
Editions and pricing
- ConfirmedSource dated 24 June 2026
The Grand Theft Auto VI Standard Edition costs 79.99 USD and launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
“Launching November 19, 2026, for the PlayStation 5 computer entertainment systems and Xbox Series X|S games and entertainment systems for $79.99”
Source: Take-Two Interactive (investor relations press release)
What it means // The publisher's own investor facing announcement, so this is the strongest source for the base price. At 79.99 dollars it sits above the 69.99 that was standard for AAA console games a few years ago, which is why the number drew so much attention.
- ConfirmedSource dated 24 June 2026
The Grand Theft Auto VI Ultimate Edition costs 99.99 USD and adds premium vehicles, weapons and apparel to the base game.
“The Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition amplifies this experience with an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action”
Source: Take-Two Interactive (investor relations press release)
What it means // The extra 20 dollars buys cosmetic and vehicle content woven into the base story, not early access, a season pass or an expansion. Rockstar has announced no story DLC for GTA 6, and it never shipped any for GTA V across 13 years.
- Confirmed
The Ultimate Edition unlocks in-game shops that Standard Edition owners do not get, including a mod shop called One-Eyed Willie's.
“ONE-EYED WILLIE'S: Visit Lake Leonida's storied mod shop, specializing in off-road modifications and hand-painted automotive artistry.”
Source: Microsoft Store (official Xbox storefront listing)
What it means // This is the detail that generated the strongest backlash. The same official listing itemises Rideout Customs, Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305, Electric Fang Tattoo and a PTT Youngin$ compound raid, so the Ultimate Edition gates in-world locations and an activity, not only cosmetics.
- ConfirmedSource dated 24 June 2026
Every pre-order, and any purchase made before November 20, 2026, includes the Vintage Vice City Pack on either edition.
“All Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders and purchases before November 20, 2026, will include the Vintage Vice City Pack”
Source: Take-Two Interactive (investor relations press release)
What it means // Read the window carefully: it runs to the day after launch, so buying on release day still qualifies. There is no reason to rush a pre-order purely to secure this pack.
- Confirmed
The Vintage Vice City Pack contains a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan and garage, plus outfits, hairstyles and an exclusive weapon pattern.
“'55 Vapid Stanier Sedan and Garage”
Source: Rockstar Games Store (official)
What it means // Rockstar's own storefront itemises the pack and it is purely cosmetic and convenience content: a car, somewhere to keep it, and appearance items. Nothing in it affects the story or progression.
- Confirmed
Digital pre-orders include one month of GTA+, which must be redeemed within 180 days of placing the pre-order.
“Receive a month of GTA+ with your pre-order; must be redeemed within 180 days after placing your pre-order.”
Source: Microsoft Store (official Xbox storefront listing)
What it means // Two things buyers miss. The 180 day clock can expire before launch if you pre-ordered early, and Rockstar pitches GTA+ at GTA Online in GTA V rather than at any GTA 6 mode. The PlayStation listing also flags that it auto-renews.
- ConfirmedSource dated 24 June 2026
The physical retail version of Grand Theft Auto VI contains a download code rather than the game data, and reaches shelves on November 12, 2026.
“The physical version of Grand Theft Auto VI, containing a download code inside the box, will be available starting November 12”
Source: Rockstar Games (Newswire)
What it means // If you are buying a disc copy, there is no disc: every buyer downloads the full game, and a redeemed code cannot be traded in or lent out. The box ships a week early purely so physical buyers can pre-load on the same schedule as digital ones.
- Confirmed
Players who buy the Standard Edition can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition at any time.
“Purchased the game? Upgrade to the Ultimate Edition on PlayStation Store at any time.”
Source: Rockstar Games Store (official)
What it means // Practical buying advice follows directly: there is no penalty for starting with the Standard Edition and deciding later. Microsoft's storefront lists a standalone Ultimate Edition Upgrade product too, so the path exists on both consoles.
- ConfirmedSource dated 24 June 2026
Grand Theft Auto VI is sold through the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store and general retailers.
“Grand Theft Auto VI will be available at the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store, and global retailers and storefronts.”
Source: Take-Two Interactive (investor relations press release)
What it means // No storefront has an exclusive edition or an exclusive bonus. Since the pre-order incentives are identical everywhere, price and payment method are the only sensible reasons to pick one retailer over another.
- Confirmed
The UK PlayStation Store lists the Grand Theft Auto VI Standard Edition at GBP 69.99.
“£69.99”
Source: PlayStation Store UK (official storefront listing)
What it means // The same listing shows the Ultimate Edition at GBP 89.99, so the 20 pound uplift mirrors the 20 dollar uplift. Once VAT is taken into account, UK buyers are paying roughly in line with the US price.
- Confirmed
The Eurozone PlayStation Store lists the Grand Theft Auto VI Standard Edition at EUR 79.99.
“€79.99”
Source: PlayStation Store (official storefront listing, Greece)
What it means // The same listing shows EUR 99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, matching the dollar figures one for one. Because euro prices include VAT and US prices do not, European buyers are effectively paying slightly less in real terms.
- ConfirmedSource dated 11 August 2026
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said pre-orders are skewing toward the more expensive edition rather than the Standard Edition.
“Actually, it is skewing more to the Premium Edition, but that might be a reflection”
Source: Video Games Chronicle (reporting a CNBC interview)
What it means // Zelnick says Premium Edition but the SKU is called Ultimate, so read that as a slip rather than a fourth edition. His own caveat is the useful part: early pre-orders over-represent the most committed buyers, so this mix is unlikely to hold at launch.
Story and setting
- ConfirmedSource dated 5 December 2023
Grand Theft Auto VI is set in the fictional US state of Leonida, which contains Vice City.
“Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond”
Source: Rockstar Games (Newswire)
What it means // Rockstar's original Trailer 1 wording, unchanged since. Leonida is the state, Vice City is the city inside it, and any article treating the two as interchangeable is wrong.
- ConfirmedSource dated 6 May 2025
The official premise is that Jason and Lucia are pulled into a criminal conspiracy spanning Leonida after an easy score goes wrong.
“when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America”
Source: Rockstar Games (Newswire)
What it means // Published with Trailer 2, this is the only full story synopsis Rockstar has issued, and it is reproduced word for word on the PlayStation Store listing. Everything more detailed than this is inference.
- Confirmed
Vice City in Grand Theft Auto VI is set in the present day, not the 1980s of the 2002 game.
“all across the sprawling state of Leonida and modern-day Vice City”
Source: PlayStation (Sony Interactive Entertainment)
What it means // Worth pinning down because the Vintage Vice City pre-order pack keeps generating claims of a playable 1980s section. Sony's official product page says modern-day, and Rockstar has shown nothing that contradicts it.
- ConfirmedSource dated 19 June 2026
Rockstar has officially introduced six areas of Leonida: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga.
“here are some details and images for six GTA 6 locations we've been introduced to so far”
Source: GamesRadar+
What it means // We checked all six names against Rockstar's own People and Places page, which carries six Explore buttons using exactly these names. Six named areas is not six equally sized map regions, and Rockstar has never published a map.
- Confirmed
Jason Duval, one of the two leads, is a former Army soldier who ended up in the Leonida Keys working for local drug runners.
“After a stint in the Army trying to shake off his troubled teens, he found himself in the Keys”
Source: Rockstar Games (official character bio)
What it means // From Rockstar's own bio, not a leak. The military background is the detail most often dropped from fan summaries, and it is the likely in-fiction explanation for Jason's weapon handling.
- Confirmed
Lucia Caminos begins the story recently released from the Leonida Penitentiary, where she was sent for fighting for her family.
“Fighting for her family landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary. Sheer luck got her out.”
Source: Rockstar Games (official character bio)
What it means // Rockstar deliberately does not say what the fight was or how she got out. That phrase, sheer luck got her out, is the single biggest unexplained gap in the official story material.
- Confirmed
Lucia's mother is described as having previously lived in Liberty City.
“Lucia wants the good life her mom has dreamed of since their days in Liberty City”
Source: Rockstar Games (official character bio)
What it means // The only explicit link Rockstar has drawn between GTA VI and an earlier GTA city. It is a line of backstory, not a promise that Liberty City appears in the game, and it should not be read as one.
- Confirmed
Brian Heder, a veteran Keys drug runner, is Jason's landlord and lets him live rent free in exchange for work.
“Brian's letting Jason live rent-free at one of his properties”
Source: Rockstar Games (official character bio)
What it means // Establishes that Jason already owes someone before the story starts, which is the usual Rockstar setup for early missions. Heder is one of only a handful of supporting characters Rockstar has named officially.
- Confirmed
Cal Hampton is a friend of Jason's, an associate of Brian Heder, and is characterised as a conspiracy theorist who monitors Coast Guard radio traffic.
“Jason's friend and a fellow associate of Brian's, Cal feels safest hanging at home, snooping on Coast Guard comms”
Source: Rockstar Games (official character bio)
What it means // Coast Guard scanning reads as a functional detail rather than colour: it suggests Cal exists to feed the crew information about smuggling runs, which fits the Keys drug running thread Jason is already tied to.
- Confirmed
Boobie Ike, a Vice City club and real estate figure, is in business with aspiring music mogul Dre'Quan Priest through the label Only Raw Records.
“it's his partnership with the young aspiring music mogul Dre'Quan for Only Raw Records that he's most invested in”
Source: Rockstar Games (official character bio)
What it means // Only Raw Records links at least four named characters, since the rap duo Real Dimez are signed to it too. It is the most developed supporting story strand Rockstar has published outside the two protagonists.
- RumouredSource dated 8 May 2025
The voice actors for Jason and Lucia are widely believed by fans to be Dylan Rourke and Manni L. Perez, but Rockstar has not announced any cast.
“Fans believe the voice actor for Lucia is Puerto Rican actor Manni L Perez.”
Source: NME
What it means // Filed as rumoured on purpose: these names appear on dozens of sites as confirmed cast, but the reporting traces back to fan voice matching and CV entries. Rockstar historically reveals its cast in the launch credits, so expect no confirmation before release day.
Technical
- Confirmed
Grand Theft Auto VI carries the official PS5 Pro Enhanced label on Sony's PlayStation.com and PlayStation Store listings.
“PS5 Pro Enhanced”
Source: Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation)
What it means // The strongest official technical signal we have, and it promises less than people assume. Sony says the label can cover ray tracing, PSSR upscaling or higher frame rates, and it is up to the developer which apply. It is not a 60fps promise.
- Confirmed
Grand Theft Auto VI supports the DualSense wireless controller's adaptive triggers, which provide dynamic resistance during play.
“The DualSense wireless controller's adaptive triggers provide dynamic resistance throughout the game.”
Source: Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation)
What it means // The same official page also confirms haptic feedback and use of the controller's speaker for in-game sound. These DualSense details are among the very few hard technical specifics either company has actually published.
- Confirmed
Grand Theft Auto VI supports Tempest 3D AudioTech on PS5 for positional audio.
“Immerse yourself in Leonida's distinct soundscape with the enhanced and highly accurate audio positioning of Tempest 3D Audio”
Source: Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation)
What it means // Officially stated on the PlayStation product page. No equivalent audio claim appears on the Xbox listing, so the Xbox Series X|S audio feature set is still unknown.
- Confirmed
Grand Theft Auto VI uses the PS5's SSD for what Sony describes as near-instant load times.
“Grand Theft Auto VI leverages the PS5's ultra-high speed SSD, enabling you to experience the expansive world of Leonida with near-instant load times.”
Source: Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation)
What it means // Marketing language, not a measured figure, so treat near-instant as design intent rather than a benchmark. It does confirm the game is built around SSD streaming, which is consistent with it skipping PS4 entirely.
- Confirmed
Grand Theft Auto VI supports 13 languages: English, French, Italian, German, Russian, Japanese, Polish, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish (Mexico), Spanish (Spain) and Portuguese (Brazil).
“English, French, Italian, German, Russian, Japanese, Polish, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish (Mexico), Spanish (Spain), Portuguese (Brazil)”
Source: Rockstar Games Store (official)
What it means // Listed by Rockstar and corroborated by the Xbox Store's 13 supported languages count. Rockstar has not said which are full voice dubs versus subtitles, and its history is English voice acting with localised text, so assume subtitles unless told otherwise.
- Confirmed
The Xbox Store listing for Grand Theft Auto VI shows an Optimized for Xbox Series X|S capability badge.
“Optimized for Xbox Series X|S”
Source: Microsoft (Xbox Store)
What it means // What is absent matters more. The capability list shows only single player, Optimized, achievements, presence and cloud saves: no 60fps badge, no 4K Ultra HD, no ray tracing, no install size. Microsoft surfaces those when a publisher supplies them, so the gaps are a real data point.
- ConfirmedSource dated 29 June 2026
As of late June 2026, Rockstar had published no technical specifications for Grand Theft Auto VI, including install size, frame rate targets or resolution.
“Rockstar has not mentioned any technical details just yet”
Source: Push Square
What it means // The most important entry here, because it invalidates most of what is circulating. Every specific install size figure we found, from roughly 150GB to an absurd 676GB, traces to forums or aggregators, never to Rockstar, and our own August checks of the PlayStation, Xbox and Rockstar store pages found no size listed anywhere.
- RumouredSource dated 8 May 2025
Digital Foundry assessed from released Grand Theft Auto VI footage that the game uses real-time ray-traced lighting.
“they've upped their game here now with real-time ray tracing”
Source: Pure Xbox
What it means // Rumoured, not confirmed, and the distinction is deliberate: this is expert visual analysis of trailer footage, which beats a leak, but Rockstar has never published a ray tracing feature list. Console builds also frequently ship with reduced effects compared with reveal footage.
- RumouredSource dated 8 May 2025
Digital Foundry expects Grand Theft Auto VI to be a 30fps game on console, possibly with a 40fps mode on some systems.
“I think everything points to this being a 30FPS game, maybe with a 40FPS mode on some systems.”
Source: Pure Xbox
What it means // An expectation, not a specification. The reasoning is that ray-traced global illumination across a dense open world is expensive and no Rockstar open world game has ever targeted 60fps on console. A 40fps mode also needs a 120Hz display to work.
- RumouredSource dated 29 June 2026
Digital Foundry does not expect Grand Theft Auto VI to run at 60fps on either the base PS5 or the PS5 Pro.
“Tech experts Digital Foundry, speaking broadly about the game's latest info drop, aren't expecting it on base PS5 or PS5 Pro.”
Source: Push Square
What it means // Directly relevant to anyone weighing a PS5 Pro purchase before launch. The argument is that the bottleneck is the CPU, and the Pro's CPU is close to the base PS5's, so the Pro Enhanced badge most plausibly means better visuals at 30fps rather than double the frame rate.
- RumouredSource dated 30 June 2026
A single-source podcast report claimed Grand Theft Auto VI could feature a 60fps mode on Xbox Series X and possibly Xbox Series S.
“GTA 6 could feature a 60FPS mode on Xbox Series X (and maybe even Xbox Series S)”
Source: Pure Xbox
What it means // This is the origin of most GTA 6 is 60fps headlines. It came from a Polish language podcast, was relayed onward by other outlets, and even the person making the claim flagged it as single source. Digital Foundry's published response was that it seems unlikely.
Online and multiplayer
- ConfirmedSource dated 24 June 2026
Rockstar Games describes Grand Theft Auto VI as a single-player experience, with no online or multiplayer mode announced for its November 19, 2026 launch.
“Grand Theft Auto VI features a single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet.”
Source: Take-Two Interactive / Rockstar Games (official press release)
What it means // The most load-bearing fact in this section. Rockstar's own pre-order announcement never describes a multiplayer component, so every claim that a GTA Online successor is in the box on day one is currently unsupported by any official wording.
- Confirmed
The official PlayStation Store listing for Grand Theft Auto VI lists the game as supporting 1 player and states it is a single-player experience.
“Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.”
Source: PlayStation Store (Sony Interactive Entertainment)
What it means // Store metadata is a useful independent check on marketing copy, because platform holders require it to be accurate. The listing carries 1 player and Offline play enabled tags with no online multiplayer capability declared, which it would have to if a mode shipped at launch.
- ConfirmedSource dated 21 May 2026
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said the existing GTA Online will remain available after Grand Theft Auto VI is released.
“it will stay in market and certainly there are many consumers who love the title”
Source: Investing.com (Take-Two Q4 FY2026 earnings call transcript)
What it means // This kills the widespread assumption that GTA Online gets switched off when GTA 6 arrives, so existing progress and purchases are not on a launch day deadline. On the same call Zelnick hedged that it is difficult to know exactly how it will perform afterwards.
- ConfirmedSource dated August 2026
In August 2026 Take-Two reiterated that it will continue to support GTA Online going forward and that its update cadence has not changed.
“we do expect to support Grand Theft Auto Online going forward”
Source: Vice
What it means // Said on the August 7, 2026 investor call, roughly three months out from launch. Note the scope: it is a commitment about the existing GTA Online on GTA V, not a statement about any GTA 6 online mode.
- ConfirmedSource dated 7 August 2026
GTA Online was still receiving major content updates on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as of July 2026, with the Kortz Center Heist Summer Update releasing on those platforms on July 14, 2026.
“Grand Theft Auto Online Kortz Center Heist Summer Update PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC July 14, 2026”
Source: Take-Two Interactive (SEC Form 8-K, Exhibit 99.1)
What it means // Contradicts years of dataminer claims that last-gen GTA Online support had already ended, and it is filed with the SEC so it is legally accurate. Note the asymmetry: GTA Online still ships to PS4 and Xbox One while GTA 6 is current-gen only.
- ConfirmedSource dated 21 May 2026
GTA Online and Grand Theft Auto V were among the largest contributors to Take-Two's net bookings in the quarter ending March 2026.
“The largest contributors to Net Bookings were NBA 2K26, Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V”
Source: Take-Two Interactive (SEC Form 8-K, Exhibit 99.1)
What it means // Context for why GTA Online is not going anywhere: a 12 year old multiplayer mode was still a top earner in the final quarter before GTA 6's launch year. That commercial reality explains the continued support commitments above.
- ConfirmedSource dated 7 August 2026
Recurrent consumer spending, which covers virtual currency and in-game purchases, accounted for 84% of Take-Two's net bookings in the quarter ending June 2026.
“recurrent consumer spending decreased 1% and accounted for 84% of total Net Bookings”
Source: Take-Two Interactive (SEC Form 8-K, Exhibit 99.1)
What it means // The clearest signal on GTA 6 monetisation, and it is indirect. Take-Two now earns the overwhelming majority of its money from ongoing spending rather than boxed sales, which is why a monetised GTA 6 online mode is widely expected even though none has been announced.
- RumouredSource dated August 2026
Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier reported in August 2026 that Take-Two has no plans to discuss what a new GTA Online will look like any time soon.
“they are not planning to talk anytime soon about what the new GTA Online will look like”
Source: Vice (reporting Jason Schreier)
What it means // Rumoured because it is journalist sourcing about internal plans, not a Rockstar or Take-Two statement. Schreier has a strong track record on Rockstar, and this is consistent with the company's silence across every official GTA 6 communication so far.
- RumouredSource dated 10 August 2026
Jason Schreier reported that Grand Theft Auto VI's single-player portion is not expected to carry recurring revenue or microtransactions.
“only talking about GTA 6 in terms of the single-player portion, which will not presumably have recurring revenue”
Source: PlayStation Universe (reporting Jason Schreier)
What it means // Note the word presumably: Schreier is inferring, not reporting a confirmed decision, which is why this stays rumoured. No official source has said anything either way about monetisation inside GTA 6's story mode.
How we classify a claim
A claim is marked confirmed only when Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, or an official PlayStation or Xbox store listing states it, or when a major outlet reports it as officially announced. Anything traced to a leaker, an unnamed source, an analyst, or a datamine is rumoured, no matter how widely it has been repeated. We mark a claim debunked when it spread widely and was then contradicted by an official source, because a corrected record is more useful than a deleted one.
Where a claim had no source we could actually retrieve and read, we left it out rather than passing it along. That is why some things you have seen elsewhere are missing here.
Spotted something wrong or missing, or have a better primary source? Tell us on the contact page and we will correct the entry and note the change.
Planning your launch day around what is actually confirmed? The launch prep checklist and the storage planner both work from the confirmed dates on this page.
