Where the ladders come from
The upgrade ladders are built from our published rankings: the SSD roundup, the monitor rankings, the headset rankings and the capture card guide. Products we advise against never enter the ladders, whatever your budget. Scoring rules live on the methodology page; if you only need to know whether your current setup survives launch day, run the PS5 Readiness Check first.

How does the Loadout Builder choose gear?
Every selected category starts at the cheapest product that passes our editorial bar, then your remaining budget repeatedly buys the cheapest single-tier upgrade anywhere in the loadout until nothing else fits. No sponsorships, no weighting toward higher commissions.
Why does it refuse my budget instead of showing cheaper gear?
Products that failed our reviews do not appear in the ladders at any price. If your budget sits below the floor for your selection, we say so rather than recommend gear we would not buy.
Are the prices live?
Prices are in Australian dollars, checked at publish, and can drift between updates. Always confirm the retailer price before buying; the affiliate links go to current listings.
Does the builder store anything?
No. It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent, stored, or shared.
