Starfield Console Commands
Starfield has no button-combo cheat codes. On PC it has a developer console that accepts typed commands: open it in game, type a command and press Enter. Some commands change your character (credits, XP, carry weight), some act on whatever you click while the console is open (kill, unlock, resurrect, weapon mods), and some change the world (teleport, time, quests). Item, resource, ammo, weapon, skill and trait IDs are base-game form IDs, each matched against at least two guides and, where listed, the Starfield Wiki's game data. The console is PC only, and using it can turn off achievements on that save.

Before you use cheats: Assume any command can turn off achievements on that save. The game warns that some commands do when you first open the console each session; guides disagree on which ones, and a November 2024 update fixed commands that had not been disabling them, so older safe lists may be wrong. Affected saves are tagged [M]. Keep a manual save from before you ever opened the console. Commands can also crash the game or break quests: saq and caqs can leave a save broken, killall also kills companions, tmm 1 cannot be undone, completequest and setstage skip quest steps, and very large placeatme counts crash the game. Many commands act on whatever you last clicked, so check the name above the console before you press Enter.
How to enter cheats
PC
Load a save and press the tilde key (~), under Esc on a US keyboard; on a German keyboard it is the O-umlaut key. The first time each session the game warns that some commands disable achievements: close the console, dismiss the message, then reopen it. Type a command and press Enter; commands are not case sensitive. To target a character or object (kill, resurrect, unlock), click it with the console open first. Replace anything in angle brackets with a real value. Confirmed on Steam; the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass version is reported to work too, but no guide has tested it directly.
PlayStation
Starfield came to PS5 on April 7, 2026, but like the Xbox version it has no command console, so nothing on this page can be entered on PlayStation.
Xbox
Xbox has no command console, even with a keyboard attached. Some players run commands on the PC Game Pass version and carry the save over to Xbox, but reports are mixed and none of the guides tested it.

God Mode & Character Stats (5)
Toggle god mode: no damage taken and ammo does not run out
Run it again to turn it off. The game's own help text calls it infinite health and stamina, and guides add unlimited ammo and no carry limit. Sources disagree on oxygen: GameSpot says it still drains, Game8 says it does not. StarfieldDB says ammo only stays unlimited while you hold at least one round. Use tim if you would rather keep taking damage.
PCtgmToggle immortal mode: you take damage but cannot die
Run it again to turn it off. Health drops and recovers as normal but never reaches zero. Game8 and Dexerto say the same holds for oxygen, while GamesRead says oxygen can still deplete. StarfieldDB suggests it for skill challenges that need you to take hits.
PCtimSet your maximum health
Replace <value> with the number you want, for example 10000. The change is saved with the game; the Fandom wiki says setav keeps the value while modav can reset after a reload. Run player.getav health first to note your starting value so you can set it back.
PCplayer.setav health <value>Set your maximum carry weight
PC Gamer and Inverse use 999999 as the top value. The Fandom wiki says very large numbers may show cut off in the inventory but still apply. GamesRadar, GamePressure and TweakTown also list player.modav carryweight <value>, which the wiki describes as a modifier that a restart or reload may reset. Gamer Guides prints player.setmodav carryweight, which no other source uses.
PCplayer.setav carryweight <value>Set your movement speed multiplier
100 is normal speed and larger numbers are faster (PC Gamer, GamesRadar, Shacknews, StarfieldDB); set it back to 100 to undo it. Game8 says it has no effect while noclip (tcl) is on.
PCplayer.setav speedmult <value>
Noclip, Camera & World (6)
Toggle noclip: pass through walls and move freely
Run it again to turn collision back on. The game's help text says it also disables gravity, and PC Gamer says you can walk into the air. StarfieldDB suggests it for getting unstuck, HoldToReset notes you can fall through floors with it on, and Gamer Guides warns it can cause crashes and quest conflicts.
PCtclToggle the free camera
Detaches the camera from your character so you can fly around the scene; run it again to return. Gamer Guides compares it to photo mode without the limits, Game8 pairs it with tm for screenshots, and StarfieldDB warns that flying far away can hurt PC performance.
PCtfcSet the free camera speed
Use it after tfc. The game's help text lists it as the free-camera speed multiplier with an optional look multiplier. The Starfield Wiki's console page gives the short form sucsm, but that page is marked as unchecked for Starfield, so only the long name is published.
PCSetUFOCamSpeedMult <speed>Change gravity in your current area
PC Gamer reports that 0 gives zero gravity. Scope is described two ways: the game's help text says it sets the gravity scale on the cell the selected object is in, while Shacknews says it changes the gravity of the planet you are on.
PCsetgravityscale <value>Change game speed (slow motion or fast forward)
Values between 0 and 1 slow the world down and values above 1 speed it up (the game's help text, PC Gamer, ClutchPoints). Use sgtm 1 to return to normal speed.
PCsgtm <value>
Teleport & Map (4)
Reveal every location marker on the current planet
Adds map markers for all locations on the planet's surface. PC Gamer, GamesRadar, Gamer Guides and ClutchPoints report that it is permanent (tmm 0 does not remove the markers), and StarfieldDB says it has caused bugs, so make a backup first. The game's help text says 0 hides markers, which the guides contradict.
PCtmm 1Teleport to your active quest target
You need an active quest in your journal (GamePressure). The game's help text calls the long form MoveToQuestTarget, and Gamer Guides warns it can interfere with quest progress. The Starfield Wiki's console page shows a quest ID after it, but that page is marked as unchecked for Starfield and the Starfield guides use the command with no argument.
PCmovetoqtTeleport to a named cell (center on cell)
CellID is the cell's editor ID text, not its display name. Find one with help <place name> 4 (TweakTown) or in Game8's location ID table. Developer test cells such as coc qasmoke are hard to leave (HoldToReset, Game8), so save first and use another coc command to get out.
PCcoc <CellID>Teleport to COE Plaza in Akila City
The ID comes from TweakTown's walkthrough and Game8's location table, which lists many more city cells in the same coc format.
PCcoc CityAkilaCityCoePlaza01
Combat, NPCs & Locks (8)
Kill all hostile characters nearby
Only hostile actors in the immediate area are affected (the game's help text), which makes it safer than killall.
PCkahKill every character in the loaded area
Not limited to enemies: GamingBolt says it includes your companion, Gamer Guides adds hostile ships, and StarfieldDB says it can clear entire cities. Important story characters are only incapacitated (GamesRadar). It can break quests.
PCkillallKill the character you clicked
Open the console, click the NPC so it is selected, then type kill. Important or mission-critical characters are only incapacitated (PCGamesN, Shacknews). Killing someone a quest needs can break that quest (Gamer Guides).
PCkillRevive the corpse you clicked
Click the dead character in the console first. PC Gamer says a generic NPC may come back as a different generic NPC; Gamer Guides says it does not work on every NPC and can conflict with quests.
PCresurrectUnlock the door, container or safe you clicked
Open the console, click the locked object, then type unlock; it skips the digipick minigame. Game8 says it does not work on locks tied to quests.
PCunlockToggle AI: freeze NPCs in place
With nothing selected it affects every NPC, and if you click one first it affects only that character (the game's help text). Run it again to restore. Gamer Guides warns it can cause quest progression problems.
PCtaiToggle combat AI so enemies stop fighting
Guides describe it as making NPCs passive (PC Gamer, GamesRadar, Gamer Guides) or as stopping enemies from targeting you (Fextralife, Game8); the game's help text says it toggles all combat AI. Gamer Guides warns it can cause quest progression issues. Do not confuse it with tai, which freezes all AI.
PCtcaiToggle NPC detection
While it is on, NPCs cannot detect you: PC Gamer says you will not be noticed in stealth and GamingBolt says it lets you steal without consequences. Run it again to restore. Gamer Guides warns it can cause quest progression issues.
PCtdetect
Credits, Items & ID Lookup (6)
Add credits
f is the short form of the credits ID 0000000F, so player.additem 0000000f <amount> does the same thing (PC Gamer, PCGamesN, GamesRadar, Shacknews, Windows Central). It adds to your balance; it does not set the total.
PCplayer.additem f <amount>Add digipicks
a is the short form of the digipick ID 0000000A, which is also the base ID on the Starfield Wiki's Digipick page. Digipicks weigh nothing (Starfield Wiki, StarfieldDB), so large stacks are safe to carry.
PCplayer.additem a <amount>Add any item to your inventory
ItemID is an eight-character hex ID and leading zeros can be dropped (Shacknews, Space4Games). Look IDs up with the help command below. Only base-game IDs are published on this page; items from the Shattered Space expansion or other DLC use different IDs and are not covered. Weapons can arrive with random mods (PC Gamer).
PCplayer.additem <ItemID> <quantity>Spawn an item or creature in front of you
Works for items, NPCs and creatures (Fextralife, StarfieldDB). PC Gamer warns that very large counts can crash the game. Shacknews says to use player.additem for ammo, because this command scatters loose rounds on the ground.
PCplayer.placeatme <ItemID> <quantity>Look up an ID by name
Type help, a word from the name and 4 to list items, cells and other forms; the ID is the eight-character hex in brackets, for example AMMO: (002B5592) 40mm XPL (Fandom wiki). Add a four-letter form type to narrow the results, such as WEAP, AMMO, ARMO, ALCH, OMOD, PERK, QUST or NPC_ (Shacknews, Fandom wiki, PC Gamer). help <word> 1 searches commands instead (PC Gamer, Inverse).
PChelp <name> 4Add Med Packs
ID 0000ABF9 (editor ID Aid_MedPack on the Starfield Wiki) matches GamesRadar, GamingBolt and Shacknews. TweakTown's list prints 00000009 for med packs, which no other source or the wiki supports.
PCplayer.additem 0000ABF9 <quantity>
Resources & Ammo (6)
Add Aluminum
ID matches PC Gamer, Fextralife, Shacknews, GamingBolt, TweakTown and the Starfield Wiki object ID (editor ID InorgCommonAluminum). Use player.additem rather than placeatme to put resources straight into your inventory.
PCplayer.additem 0000557D <quantity>Add Iron
ID matches PC Gamer, Fextralife, Shacknews, GamingBolt, TweakTown and the Starfield Wiki object ID (editor ID InorgCommonIron).
PCplayer.additem 0000556E <quantity>Add Titanium
ID matches PC Gamer, Fextralife, Shacknews, GamingBolt, TweakTown and the Starfield Wiki object ID (editor ID InorgRareTitanium).
PCplayer.additem 0000556D <quantity>Add Helium-3
ID matches PC Gamer, Shacknews, GamingBolt, TweakTown and the Starfield Wiki object ID (editor ID InorgCommonHelium3).
PCplayer.additem 0000558E <quantity>Add 11mm Caseless ammo
ID matches PC Gamer, GGRecon, Shacknews, GamingBolt, TweakTown and the Starfield Wiki's 11mm Caseless page. Fextralife's ammo table repeats the 1.5kV LZR ID on this row by mistake.
PCplayer.additem 002B5595 <quantity>Add 1.5kV LZR Cartridge ammo
ID matches PC Gamer, GGRecon, Fextralife, Shacknews, GamingBolt, TweakTown and the Starfield Wiki (editor ID AmmoLaserSmall). GamesRadar uses it as its worked example for the help command but prints the ID as 0000BAE3F, which is missing the 2.
PCplayer.additem 002BAE3F <quantity>
Weapons & Weapon Mods (3)
Add the Grendel rifle
A ballistic rifle that uses 7.77mm Caseless ammo (Starfield Wiki, GamingBolt). The ID matches the wiki's object ID, GamingBolt, Fextralife, Shacknews and TweakTown, and it is the worked example in the Fandom wiki's console guide. Whether it arrives plain or with mods is random (PC Gamer).
PCplayer.additem 00028A02 1Attach a mod to a weapon
Drop the weapon, open the console and click it in the world to read its reference ID (the number in brackets); you cannot click items in your inventory (Fandom wiki). PC Gamer says you may need to crouch and click around to select it. Find mod IDs with help <mod name> 4 OMOD (Shacknews).
PC<RefID>.amod <ModID>Remove a mod from a weapon
Target the weapon the same way as for .amod, then give the ID of the mod to remove. Listed by GGRecon, Dexerto, Shacknews, TweakTown, GamingBolt, Fextralife and StarfieldDB.
PC<RefID>.rmod <ModID>
Level, XP & Skills (7)
Set your character level
Guides disagree on direction: PC Gamer and Gamer Guides say it can raise or lower your level, while GameRevolution, Game8 and TweakTown say it only goes up. The game's help text says it only recalculates non-player actors, and StarfieldDB warns that it does not add experience and has been linked to bugs, so use player.modav experience when you can.
PCplayer.setlevel <level>Add experience points
The amount is added to your current XP, including the level-ups and skill points that come with it (GameSpot, Shacknews, TweakTown, StarfieldDB). StarfieldDB says a large value can take you to the maximum level; its example is 50000 and TweakTown's is 100000.
PCplayer.modav experience <amount>Add unspent skill points
cgf is the short form of CallGlobalFunction (listed by Dexerto and PCGamesN), which the game's help text says runs the Papyrus function you name first. TweakTown's list (from a Nexus Mods user), a Steam guide commenter and FearLess forum posters all use this exact form; ClutchPoints prints game.addperkpoints <value> without cgf, which none of the others do. No outlet tested it, and a FearLess poster reported that an achievement stopped unlocking after using it.
PCcgf "Game.AddPerkPoints" <amount>Add a skill rank, trait or background by ID
Each use adds one rank to a skill (GameSpot, PC Gamer, Gamer Guides), so repeat it for more ranks; Gamer Guides says you may need to close and reopen the console between entries if you have not done the rank's challenge. Dexerto and GamesRead say it needs an unspent skill point, which the other guides do not mention. Full skill, trait and background ID lists are on the Fextralife and Gamer Guides ID pages.
PCplayer.addperk <PerkID>Remove a skill, trait or background by ID
GameSpot and PC Gamer say it removes the skill entirely, while StarfieldDB says each use removes one rank and does not refund the skill point. Use the same ID you would give player.addperk.
PCplayer.removeperk <PerkID>Add a rank of the Security skill
ID matches PC Gamer, Fextralife, Shacknews, TweakTown, GamingBolt, ClutchPoints, Gamer Guides and the Starfield Wiki form ID (editor ID Skill_Security). Security is the skill the wiki's Digipick page points to for using digipicks.
PCplayer.addperk 002CE2E2Add the Hero Worshipped trait (the Adoring Fan follower)
ID matches PC Gamer, Fextralife, Shacknews, TweakTown, ClutchPoints, Gamer Guides and the Starfield Wiki trait ID. Use player.removeperk 00227FD9 to take it off; the wiki's in-game route is to tell the Adoring Fan you plan to kill him and then do it.
PCplayer.addperk 00227FD9
Character Menus & Powers (4)
Open the full character creator
Reopens the creator including name, background and traits (PC Gamer, GamesRadar, Shacknews). Shacknews warns it resets your appearance and suggests option 2 instead, and a Nexus-sourced list on TweakTown says you may need Alt+F4 to leave without changes, so save first.
PCshowlooksmenu player 1Open the partial character creator
Cosmetic changes only; your traits and background stay as they are (PC Gamer, GamesRadar, ClutchPoints).
PCshowlooksmenu player 2Switch body type and reset your look
Changes your character to the other default body type and resets the appearance to a default look (PC Gamer, GamesRadar, Shacknews).
PCsexchangeAdd every Starborn power
Adds all powers at once (PC Gamer, PCGamesN, GamesRadar, Inverse). Gamer Guides flags it as a spoiler for late-game mechanics, so skip it on a first playthrough. The game's help text calls the command PlayerSpellBook.
PCpsb
Dialogue, Bounties & Companions (5)
Make every speech challenge succeed
1 turns it on; PC Gamer pairs it with setforcespeechchallengealwaysfail for guaranteed failure. The off value is unclear: guides list 0 as the other option, but ClutchPoints says 0 makes every challenge fail, so reload a save if persuasion stays rigged.
PCsetforcespeechchallengealwayssucceed 1Pay off a faction's bounty
Fextralife says this form keeps you out of jail and lets you keep stolen items, and PC Gamer says the fine comes out of your credits. IDs that PC Gamer, Fextralife, Shacknews and Inverse agree on: Crimson Fleet 00010B30, Freestar Collective 000638E5, Neon/Ryujin Industries 0026FDEA, United Colonies 0005BD93. TweakTown marks the Trade Authority ID as possibly wrong, so it is not listed.
PCplayer.paycrimegold 0 0 <FactionID>Pay off the Crimson Fleet bounty
ID 00010B30 is the same in PC Gamer, Fextralife, Shacknews, TweakTown, Inverse and ClutchPoints.
PCplayer.paycrimegold 0 0 00010B30Pay off the United Colonies bounty
ID 0005BD93 is the same in PC Gamer, Fextralife, Shacknews, TweakTown, Inverse and ClutchPoints.
PCplayer.paycrimegold 0 0 0005BD93Set a companion's affinity
Open the console with the companion in view and click them to target them, then use getav com_affinity to read the number and setav com_affinity <value> to change it. Unique conversations trigger at 100, 200, 300 and so on, so PC Gamer and GameSpot suggest setting one point below the next level (99, 199) and then doing something the companion likes. Note the original value first.
PCsetav com_affinity <value>
Quests (5)
Start every quest in the game
High crash risk. StarfieldDB says it begins every mission through a huge number of stage changes and can teleport you, and Gamer Guides says a save can stay broken even after reloading. Use only on a throwaway save.
PCsaqComplete quests across the game
Sources disagree on scope: PCGamesN says main story and side missions, while Dexerto and Fextralife say main story quests. StarfieldDB rates the crash risk lower than saq but still high, and Gamer Guides warns of serious quest and story conflicts. Use only on a throwaway save.
PCcaqsList your active quests and their codes
Prints your current quests with a code after each name; then type help followed by that code or the quest name to see the quest ID in brackets (Pro Game Guides). help <word> 4 QUST also finds completed quests. The Starfield Wiki's console page lists sqt as well.
PCsqtMark a quest as completed
Sets the quest to the completed state (the game's help text). Pro Game Guides used it to clear a mission that kept coming back as active; it moves the quest to your completed list, so you miss any rewards, and the guide warns it can damage a save. Find the quest ID with sqt or help <name> 4 QUST.
PCcompletequest <QuestID>Jump a quest to a specific stage
Use getstage <QuestID> to read the current stage first (the game's help text). DotEsports and the Starfield Community Patch both give it as a fix for stuck quests; the patch pairs it with startquest to rescue a stuck Ryujin Industries quest. Forcing a stage can skip steps or leave a quest in a bad state, so back up first.
PCsetstage <QuestID> <Stage>
Time & Weather (3)
Pass a number of in-game hours
The game's help text says it passes time as if you were sleeping; PC Gamer, Shacknews and the Steam guide list it with the same use.
PCpasstime <hours>Force the weather to a specific type
The game's help text says ForceWeather (fw) switches the active weather instantly and SetWeather (sw) sets it; DigiStatement describes setweather <WeatherID> as the gradual version. DigiStatement is the only guide that shows them and says to find IDs by typing help rain, and no guide gives a tested weather ID, so treat this as untested.
PCforceweather <WeatherID>
Ship Fixes (3)
Add Ship Parts, the item used to repair hull damage
ID 0003FB19 (editor ID ShipRepairKit) is in Shacknews and GamingBolt, and the Starfield Wiki describes the item as used to repair spaceship hull damage. Each part weighs 10 (wiki, Shacknews), so a big stack is heavy.
PCplayer.additem 0003FB19 <quantity>Refuel a ship
Refuels the ship you clicked in the console, or your own spaceship if nothing is selected (the game's help text, PC Gamer, ClutchPoints).
PCRefuelSpaceshipRemove a stuck object you clicked
DotEsports used it on asteroid rocks stuck to a ship: open the console, click the object, type disable, then close the console. The game's help text lists enable as the counterpart, but no guide shows undoing it, so treat disable as one-way and never use it on quest items or NPCs.
PCdisable
This page covers the commands people search for most, not the whole console; the game's own help output lists well over a thousand mostly debug commands. Left out on purpose: commands that only one source mentions or that sources contradict (each is in the verification notes), and minor extras such as tgp (pause toggle), setscale, startquest and getstage beyond the mentions in the quest notes. Gaps you may expect: no verified command opens the ship builder or spawns ships (the ship ID lists mix in runtime reference IDs and the wiki has no base IDs for ships), no verified command changes outpost build budgets (the only fixes found are third-party mods), and no source gives a tested weather ID. Item, skill, trait, ammo and weapon IDs were confirmed against starfieldwiki.net; for any other item use help <name> 4. Items from the Shattered Space or Terran Armada expansions are not covered. The guides date mostly from September 2023 to 2026. No source checked reports a command or base-game ID broken by the Shattered Space expansion (2024) or the Free Lanes update (April 2026); the only official change found is the November 2024 achievements fix described in the warnings. No source tests the Game Pass or PS5 builds.
FAQ
How do you open the console in Starfield?
On PC, load a save and press the tilde (~) key, the grave-accent key under Esc on a US keyboard. The game pauses. The first time each session it shows an achievements warning: close the console with ~, click OK or press E, then reopen it. Type a command, press Enter and press ~ to close. The console exists on PC only.
Can you use console commands on Xbox or PS5?
No. The command console is PC-only. GGRecon says it cannot be opened on Xbox even with a keyboard attached, and Space4Games says PS5 players have to play without cheats; Starfield came to PS5 on April 7, 2026. Some guides describe running commands on PC, saving, and loading that save on Xbox, but one notes it is not guaranteed.
Do console commands disable achievements in Starfield?
Yes, on the save you use them on. The game warns you the first time you open the console each session. Guides disagree on whether every command counts (Gamer Guides says nearly all, GGRecon and StarfieldDB say only some), but a November 2024 update fixed some commands that were not disabling achievements, so assume any command can. Keep a clean save from before you open the console.
What is the god mode command in Starfield?
tgm toggles god mode: you stop taking damage and guides report unlimited ammo and no carry limit. Type it again to turn it off. tim is immortal mode, which lets you take damage but keeps your health above zero.
How do you add credits and digipicks with a console command?
Use player.additem f 100000 for credits and player.additem a 100 for digipicks, changing the numbers to what you want. The f and a are short forms of the item IDs 0000000F and 0000000A. The same player.additem <ItemID> <quantity> format adds any item once you know its ID, which you can look up with help <name> 4.
How do you get XP or skill points with a console command?
player.modav experience <amount> adds experience, including the level-ups it triggers (GameSpot, Shacknews, StarfieldDB). For skill points, community lists use cgf "Game.AddPerkPoints" <amount>, and player.addperk <SkillID> adds a rank to a specific skill. player.setlevel sets your level, but StarfieldDB warns it does not add experience and has been linked to bugs.
